2. BIM Level of Development Graphic
The Level of Development (LOD) Specification is a reference that enables the construction design industry to specify and articulate with a high degree of clarity the content and reliability of Building Information Models (BIMs) at various stages in the design and construction process. In other words, the Level Of Development (LOD) determines how much information is modelled in the 3D file and what data is available. Serving as an industry standard, LOD defines the development stages of different systems in BIM. LOD has been introduced by The American Institute Of Architects.

At its core, BIM is a process supported by various tools, technologies and contracts involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. There are multiple levels of BIM design and they vary in detail and complexity.
